From March 3rd to 5th, the NOA Colloquium 2025 took place, bringing together researchers from the NOA community in the historically significant locations of Dornburg (Saale) and at the Abbe Center of Photonics in Jena. These days were characterized by intense professional exchange and the presentation of the latest research findings.

Day 1: Starting in Dornburg

The first day took us to Dornburg (Saale), a place of historical significance and remarkable beauty, proving to be an ideal setting for our scientific discussions. The focus was on presentations from projects C5 and A2, given by Francesco Vitale, Daniel Repp, Sören Lerner, Xiao Chen and Eva von Domaros. After a short coffee break, presentations from projects B4 and B2 by Jeetendra Gour, Sebastian Beer, and Alexey Ustinov provided new scientific insights and stimuli.

The lunch break offered an opportunity for lively exchange and the establishment of new cooperations. The afternoon featured future plans, particularly regarding the Deutsches Optisches Museum and the science in our public relation project, presented by Timo Mappes and Holger Cartarius, and the upcoming collaborations with Xuemei Gu and Caterina Cocchi. The day concluded with a tour of Dornburg's historic castle, diving more into the history of the place a beautiful end of day one.

Day 2: Continuing in Dornburg

The second day continued the academic exchange, starting with updates from projects B5 and A6. Impressions and results were shared by Edwin Eobaldt, Olga Ustimenko, Maximilian Tomoscheit, Ulf Peschel, and Kurt Busch. The morning ended with in-depth insights into spectroscopy by Jer-Shing Huang from C1.

The afternoon session included additional project presentations, among them from Pulkit Joshi and Stefanie Gräfe (Project A4) and from Volker Deckert, who took us on a journey through Project C2. The day wrapped up with more stimulating discussions and a group photo against the historic backdrop of the castle.

Day 3: Concluding at the Abbe Center of Photonics

On the third and final day, we convened at the Abbe Center of Photonics, where presentations by Giancarlo Soavi and Daniil Kartashov (Project C4) as well as Siavash Davani (B6) started the day. We were also eager to hear from about recently started project A7 by René Sondenheimer and Martin Gärtner. Both giving insights into their first results and collaborations within the cluster. The last talk of the projects and a nice rounding off was given by Johanna Conrad and Yash Pathak, both presenting for project C6.

After an extended lunch break to strenghthen our bodies and to refresh our minds we started into the afternoon session, which was a full dive-in into an eLabFTW hands-on workshop, led by our Research Data Steward Robert Hussein, practically introducing participants to tools for FAIR Data.

The NOA Colloquium 2025 offered an amazing platform for scientific exchange within NOA and strengthened collaboration between us all. With inspiring lectures and fruitful discussions, we have solidified our foundation for future research ideas and cooperations. Reflecting on successful days of intensive exchange, we eagerly anticipate our next meeting in September.
